Stitches of Hope Donates to Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home

I had a great time recently delivering 150 of our beautiful handmade FREE caps to staff at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Ft Wayne. One of our members, Marilyn Vandentop, recommended we deliver caps to this facility and we began doing so 2 years ago. It was nice to hand them in person to Gail Cousino, Provider Relations Rep; Colleen Marshall, Vice President of Clinical Services; Jill Law, Donor Services; Kristen Rajchel, Development and Community Awareness Director. Here's a photo of our visit.
Please let us know if you can use caps for your medical facility. We like to help people!

Last week I delivered 150 caps to students at Indian Village Elementary School in Ft Wayne IN. The principal, Mrs Born, accepted them on the students' behalf. She arranged for this sweet photo with students and some of our caps. "We have students who can really use these caps," she said. We want to put caps in the hands of children and adults who can use them. We are looking for medical facilities across the US which could use our caps. They are free. They are made from new yarn and are pet-free and smoke-free. So far in 4 years, thanks to generous volunteers, we have distributed 8,000+ caps across the US! If you know of a place, please email me the contact info, including a phone number and email address at stitchesofhope@gmail.com. Take care, Kayleen

Happy New Year from Stitches of Hope!

Happy New Year!

I hope 2011 has been a good year for you and that you look forward with excitement to 2012. of course, no year is perfect but with God’s help, we press on. One of the best ways to get our minds off troubles is to help others. There’s no better way to do so than by making something beautiful and giving it away to someone who needs it. that’s what we’re about with Stitches of Hope. We make knitted/crocheted caps for people who lose hair from cancer and give them to medical facilities across the US to distribute free of charge. We’ve distributed 5,000 in 3 years! Thank you to our volunteers!

Here is a lovely note from one of our volunteers. “I have problems with inner ear and with my ft. I’m often dizzy and I don't drive or get out except with family. Thanks for picking up the caps I’ve made. I enjoy making these and am glad to do something for someone else! More to come in a few months! Thanks! Irene.

We rely on generous people like Irene to create our caps. We still meet weekly at the United Methodist Church in Bluffton Indiana. If you cannot make it to the meetings, please let us know and we’ll pick up the caps from your home. Or you can mail them to this address:
Kayleen Reusser
1524 N Sutton Cir Bluffton IN 46714

We’ll get them into the hands of people – men, women, children – who need them. Thank you notes from some of our recipients will be posted in the coming days.
Take care,
